We are camping at Lake Lila Campground located at 18223 Township Road 121 Newcomerstown, Ohio 43832. The campground normally charges $15.00 per tent but I may have talked them down to $7.50 to $10.00. Here is their facebook page for anyone wanting more info: Lake Lila Campground
I plan on getting to the campground Wednesday night. I would like to scout the upstream portion on Thursday looking at an 8.5 and 15 mile trip. Log jams and water levels are the main concerns.
Wills Creek is controled by a dam so water levels may vary depending on rain before the trip. I will be canoeing the 6 miles or so from the campground downstream on Friday. The Muskingum Watershed Office says there is a major logjam in that area but Google maps doesn't show it.
Saturday we can paddle the 8.5 or 15 miles from upstream back to camp. We will have to portage around 100 feet from the creek into Lake Lila to get to camp. Fishing is supposed to be pretty good on the creek. If the paddling isn't so hot we can always fish or eat or both.
Since some members are going to Canada in August, I thought Saturday's potluck should be made completely from dried or dehydrated food. Let's get creative.
Sunday I must leave early due to it being Mothers Day. Anyone that wants could explore the bays around the dam or re-paddle Friday or Saturdays trips. I can shuttle before I leave.
