Greenville Creek Info
May 9 - 12, 2024

We will be camping at the Prairie Ridge Meadow, a Darke County Park, at 104 N Broadway St, Greenville, OH 45331. This will be a tent camping only outing. No permission for hard sided campers. There are restrooms with flush toilets but no showers.

There is no drinking water available. You must bring your own water. There are no trash receptacles, please plan on packing your garbage out with you.

We can have a campfire but it must be dug into the turf and the turf replaced when complete.

We can park near the restroom but we are not allowed to drive on the grass to unload.

They would like a donation to the park district for the use of the facilities, so I am going to request a $5.00 per night camping fee to show our appreciation for letting us camp there.

I plan to camp Thursday evening and scout the creek on Friday morning. I may even get on the water, not sure yet.

Saturdays trip will start from camp. Six miles downstream from camp is the Bears Mill a working grist mill. Anyone that wants to take out there can leave a vehicle when we shuttle. The rest will continue on to St Rt 721 for a total of 15 miles. At the Bears Mill there is a small lowhead dam that must be portaged. It is an easy portage.

Sunday is up in the air as I have to scout the upstream section. The last time I paddled it there were 6 logjams that made for a challenging six mile trip.

Saturday, May 11th is national Eat What You Want Day so the potluck theme is "Eat What You Want"!
