Hello paddlers and campers. The 2025 Pigeon River trip will be on Oct. 3 -5. We will be staying at the Crooked Creek Campground, in the northeast quadrant of the campground, near the bathrooms and showers. There are electric and non electric sites in this section.
I will be taking a drive up there to get some open site numbers should you want to make a reservation. However the campground at this time of year has plenty of open spaces in our experience. I will email some possible sites.
There has been some interest in paddling the lower section of the river below Nasby dam, so we will schedule that for Saturday morning and possibly a section of the upper river in the afternoon. The Nasby dam put in is a sandy gently sloping bottom with an isolated river to the take out. It is not quite as narrow as the upper section but is quite pleasant and we can take out at the pond just before the next dam, or just before the pond.
Friday and Sunday can be a variety of trips on the river or exploring the Mongo mill pond or lakes in the area.
I will be making cheese fondue again this year for Saturday dinner. Last year we also had homemade soup and homemade chili to go with it.
I would like to add something new this year as in some after dinner entertainment. Let's go back to 5th grade and have show and tell. Please bring two or three items that you have that you think are interesting or cool that you would like to share with us. Any topic is fine. I have an art item and 2 nature related items I will bring.
See ya,
Lance
